Alex visit with Dr. Wong / Cincinnati

Hi everyone -

As I write this, Will and Alex are in route back home for his 2 day dr. appt. in Cincinnati. I am happy to say that all went well. It got a good report from Dr. Wong. Some tests he did better on this year vs. last year. I am so thankful to GOD! I just hope and pray he stays this well for a long time. I can't wait to see him tonight and cuddle with him when I put him to bed. (They should get home aroud midnight)
I am one very happy and thankful mom today. Hug your children tighter today and be thankful for all of your blessings!

fyi - MDA Labor Day Telethon is around the corner. Alot of local businesses are asking for donations, if you give a few dollars in Alex's name this year, we would be very grateful. The cure is on the horizion....the scientists just need the money to fund it!
Here is an adorable picture of Alex, age 5 and 2 months. The day after this photo was taken, we found out he had DMD.

Thanks!!! Kim

My new toy

Hi all -
Hope you had a nice weekend. Good here. Nice weather and we enjoyed a nice bike ride on Saturday and Sunday. Will bought me an early birthday present yesterday...my new beach cruiser bicycle. I love it!! I have been riding the same $99.00 Walmart special for 11 years so it was time for an upgrade. It is very comfortable.
As you can see, Will is pulling a load. He rides with Alex on the tandem and the twins in the carrier. He definitely got his exercise today. We rode to downtown Danville this evening and had dinner. When Alex is not on the tandem, he rides his Razor ATV.
Alex went to the movies with a friend from school after we got home. It was a great day!

Park Day with Twins

Just a quick hello with a few pics of the twins. We went to the park this morning. Had fun but it was hot. Alex is attending a Day Camp this week, YMCA Mad Machines and Robots. He loves it.

I also wanted to mention that Will is taking Alex to Cincinnati next Tuesday for his annual checkup with Dr. Wong. Please keep them in your prayers. Alex is doing well and we hope to get a good report. I will stay here with the twins. I will be glad when they are back home. Alex is a little nervous. He hates it when they take blood.

I am also getting back involved with PPMD (Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy), networking, research etc. so I may be sending information regarding that.

More later!!

Welcome to the Maddux Family Blog

Hi all -
I have been wanting to create a family blog for a while..just kept putting it on the back burner. A friend of ours in Oregan created one for her family and sent us the link. It is super cool. Just add pics and a note/journal about the family and everyone can stay updated. I know there are tons of blog website these days. I recommend you create one for your family and send us the link. With today's technology, we can stay connected.

Please bookmark this page and check back a few times a month. I will try to update once a week or every other week with stuff going on and updated pics.

This is my first post. I am sitting outside watching Alex and a neighbor boy swim in the pool. The little one's are napping, so I have some quite time. Summer is half over :-( Can you beleive it? We are really enjoying it. Lots of swimming, BBQ's, playing outside and playdates.

Alex is doing really well. He is going into the 3rd grade. He is an awesome reader. He loves to swim. Swimming is the best exercise for him. He is still getting around great and so active. We are so pleased.

The twins will be 2 in 6 weeks. Whew! Time flies. I can say that this is probably the toughest time with them physically. They get into everything they shouldn't and have no fear. It is very hard to go anywhere with them by myself. I can only go to toddler parks that are gated for playdates. They are runners and the first chance they get, they run...in two different directions. I know it will get easier once they understand. There are a ton of fun though...we wouldn't change it for the world.
Will is busy as ever with work. Doing great!! Me - I am great too. I wish there were more hours in the day. I never have enough time to do all the things I need to do.
Enjoy the pics and check back soon.

Love to all - Kim
